There are many styles of calligraphy in Chinese tradition such as Oracle bone script, Chinese Bronze Inscriptions, Seal script, Clerical script, Regular script, Semi-cursive script, Cursive script, etc. It has so many that the Chinese use to create a hundred styles of “Fortune” Chinese calligraphy writing/embroidery and a hundred styles of “Long Life” Chinese calligraphy writing/embroidery as handmade gifts for some joyful events as a celebration.
There are four main materials and tools for users to create Chinese calligraphy, which we call “four treasures of the scholar”, which includes Chinese writing brush, ink, ink slab, and paper. paperweights, desk pads, and seals with seal paste are the tools of Chinese calligraphy. Seals usually are the signature seals that represent personal signature, work precision signature (such as the Country seal, the Queen seal, or the City Host seal, etc.), or some great wish as decoration.
Traditionally, the master showing the right way in a particular style to draw the characters, and students are copy strictly, continuously exemplary works from the apprentice’s master or from reputed calligraphers by rote.
